The O.F.M.C.
TIGER SQUADRON - 10 Years 1996-2006

Our History

It was over fifteen years since Ray and Mark Hanna founded the Old Flying Machine Company and public interest in it had grown. After a period of careful consideration, Ray and Mark agreed to the formation of a supporters group. It was therefore a great occasion when, on Sunday 2nd June 1996, at O.F.M.C's Classic Jet and Fighter Display, Mark Hanna proudly displayed their new Hawker Hunter to the aviation public, and officially launched the supporters group, "OFMC Tiger Squadron"  This year, 2006 we are 10 years old ! Unfortunately, we are now retiring.

Tiger Squadron was been operated independently by members with the exception of Laura Wetton, O.F.M.C.'s Operations Manager. Tiger Squadron is pleased to have Mrs. Hanna and Sarah Hanna, Ray's wife and daughter, as Chairman and Vice-chairman.

Members of Tiger Squadron were justly proud to support the commendable aims and policies of the O.F.M.C. which include displaying classic aircraft in a safe manner. The pilots who fly the aircraft mostly come from a military background with experience in aerobatic flying. Another important aspect of the team is the engineering side which has the key responsibility of maintaining and preparing the aircraft. Another arena where our pilots, engineers and aircraft have a high profile presence is in the world of film and television. From Empire of the Sun, through Memphis Belle, Piece of Cake, Tomorrow Never Dies, to a pop video by Fat Boy Slim, the Old Flying Machine Company has provided it's resources and knowledge to contribute to memorable flying sequences.
